Local Living Economy- Best Practice Research and Design - Discussion Paper (2011)

Partnering with Southern Cross University, Ethos Foundation has recently completed a research project into international and Australian Local Living Economy initiatives and activities to provide the basis for further projects in this area including pilot work in regional centres in SE Queensland and Northern NSW. Scenic Rim Climate Smart Business Cluster (2010-2011)

Between July 2010 and March 2011, the Ethos Foundation facilitated the Scenic Rim’s first ClimateSmart Business Cluster with the help of a Queensland Government grant from the Department of Environment and Resource Management. 
With a focus on tracking and reducing food miles by using more local, regional and even homegrown food, 16 accommodation businesses worked with Ethos to reduce their carbon footprints and support the regional food economy. “The Economics of Happiness” – launch and screenings (2011)

Collaborative partnership with the International Society for Economy and Culture (ISEC) and Helena Norberg-Hodge to help launch this inspirational movie in South East Queensland about the power of “going local”, including collaborative partnerships with local organisations Food Connect, SEED International and Scenic Rim Regional Council. Building Sustainable Small Business Program (2008-2010)

Building Sustainable Small Business was an initiative of the Ethos Foundation to promote and develop sustainability and a strong local living economy for small business and enterprise.
It started in early 2008 with the launch of The Building Sustainable Small Business program, a two-year schedule of workshops, comprehensive sustainability training, mentoring and networking to support the development of small business sustainability in the Scenic Rim Regional Council area with additional workshops on the Gold Coast.

Biggest Carbon Loser Challenge (2010)

Ethos consultant Sally MacKinnon designed and facilitated the workshops for the Biggest Carbon Loser Challenge, an initiative of tourism industry network Scenic Rim Escapes for businesses (particularly tourism-related) and households. The aim of the project was for businesses to shrink their carbon footprint, save money on their energy costs and green up their local economy by reducing their carbon footprint by at lease 2,000kg of CO2 pollution!
