Local Living Economy (LLE) is all about bringing economic power back into local regions, communities, businesses and households. It's about 'thinking local first' as LLE pioneer Michael Shuman says.
Building Sustainable Small Business is an initiative of the Ethos Foundation to promote and develop sustainability and a strong local living economy for small business and enterprise.
Since its establishment in 2005, the Ethos Foundation has integrated the creative arts within many of its sustainability activities, believing that the engagement between creativity and sustainability is fundamental to inclusive, intelligent and effective social transition.

Saturday 24th October, 11am – 1pm at Currumbin Alley Beach Gecko members are also needed to help set up the props for the event, and marshal what we hope will be hundreds of people who come to participate. Be part of a world-wide series of events across more than 100 countries to raise awareness of the need to reduce CO2 emissions from the current 385 parts per million (ppm) to below 350ppm for a liveable planet. All members of the community are invited to participate in activities including a photographed ‘people formation’ of the number ‘350’ on Currumbin beach, and a ‘surfer formation’ of ‘350’ in the water. There will be lots of colour and music, 350 tree giveaways, environmental beach games, petitions to the Prime Minister, and more. Gecko is coordinating the Gold Coast’s ‘350’ event to coincide with an international day of climate action from Nepal to Easter Island, from Stockholm to Tierra del Fuego on October 24th. Join with people across the planet to call for an effective response by national leaders to climate change at the Copenhagen Conference in December 2009. Please reduce your CO2 by walking, cycling, swimming, surfing, rowing, bussing or carpooling to the venue on the south side of Currumbin Estuary. More info: www.350.org; www.gecko.org.au; 5534 1412
