2008 gets off to a healthy start with a series of workshops on sustainable food and farming initiatives.

A series of four two-hour evening workshops and a one-day field trip about growing nutritious fruit and vegetables without herbicides and pesticides will be held in late January and February at Beechmont and Tamborine Mountain.

The Growing Healthy workshops are hosted jointly by the Ethos Foundation and Tamborine Mountain & District Local Producers Association. They will be presented by Geoff and Bev Buckley, founders of the Tamborine Mountain Green Shed and winners of the Queensland small business Champion Award 2007 for Fresh Food.

Creative Renewal

The first days of summer up here at Binna Burra are a little like a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel…there are white and yellow butterflies everywhere, sometimes so many that it’s like walking through clouds. The air and earth are full of moisture and warmth, with grass and plants growing before our very eyes. If you listen carefully you can almost hear them bursting through the soil and breathing with a sigh into the light and air. And we are experiencing interludes of bugs, particularly in the early evenings as beetles and flying ants make for glowing indoor lights. It’s a mixture of heaven and hell, dreams and nightmares (particularly for those who have a fear of bugs!)

If you are a reader of our eNews and enjoy hearing about our activities, we invite you to join the Foundation and more tangibly support our work through your membership. Family, Single, Concession and Organisational memberships are available.
