gr8 START Evaluation (2010-2011)

Working with Lifeline Gold Coast and the Gold Coast General Practice Partnership Council, the Ethos Foundation is engaged as the evaluator for Phase 2 of this regional early years program gr8 START is a multi-sectoral collaboration/partnership to improve the health and wellbeing of 0-8 years across the Gold Coast via:
  • Distribution of information about childhood development milestones, and the importance of reading to children to parents and families through general practices, childcare centres and pharmacies;
  • Development and documentation of referral pathways across early years health landscape for general practices;
  • Development and ongoing maintenance of the gr8 START Advisory Group – a collaboration of services, agencies, NGOs, government departments, childcare centres etc in order to develop a coherent and connected early years landscape across the Gold Coast.
Ethos is undertaking quantitative evaluation of place-based initiatives involving general practices, childcare centres and community nurses, and qualitative evaluation of the Advisory Group’s understanding and application of partnering. A short documentary film of the project is also being developed.

Sustainable Scenic Rim Website and eNews (2010 – )

Design, development and maintenance of the Sustainable Scenic Rim Community website including the Sustainable Business and Community Directory and seasonal enewsletters to stakeholders. This project built on the success of the Building Sustainable Small Business program

Strategic Sustainability in the Scenic Rim (2010 and 2011)

Stakeholder forums, research and ongoing collaboration

Collaboration with Scenic Rim Regional Council to design, organise and facilitate an annual leaders’ forum bringing together representatives from local business, industry networks, community organisations, indigenous organisations, environment and sustainability organisations. The aim of the initiative is to review the status of the region’s 4-bottom line sustainability initiatives, identify strengths and threats to the region’s sustainability, prioritise activities for the next 12 months, and build dialogue and relationships between the diverse council and community leaders in the Scenic Rim. Outputs from the project also include a 2010 discussion paper “A Story about Sustainability” and the 2010 report on Forum outcomes and priorities.
