Our Background and Journey
The Ethos Foundation recognises the need for a global cultural shift in our thinking, values and action for sustainability.

We demystify what sustainability means, we recognise the underpinning foundation and principles of healthy natural environments and ecological systems, and integrate that understanding throughout our community, cultural and enterprise activities.

Since 2005 our work has evolved from a learning program of national and regional Courageous Conversations, Think Tanks, multi-sector Roundtables and Speaking Tours by International Sustainability leaders, toward designing and implementing integrated, onground and practical projects in economies, communities and business sectors at both local and regional scales.

Much of our work brings together diverse stakeholders to find common ground about the meaning and practices of sustainable enterprise, economies, landscapes, learning and innovation.  

Our projects facilitate and educate communities towards implementing ecological, economic, social and cultural sustainability in the immediate and longer terms.

The ongoing journey …
We recognise that sustainability is a journey that often begins with eco-efficiency actions, then evolves into increasing resilience at many scales, and then focuses on the transformation of social, economic and governance systems to more closely align with nature’s systems and renewable resources.
